The player can unlock one Outfit for each of the six characters by completing all of their respective missions. These Outfits can only be worn in the multiplayer mode of the game. In Sonic Adventure 2, several Outfits are available for each of the main playable characters, namely Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Shadow, Dr. Outfits normally only offer aesthetic changes, although there have been cases where they affect the characters' moveset.
So far, Outfits have been entirely optional extra features in the games, and can only be unlocked after clearing certain requirements or via external downloads. Each Outfit is unique and often designed to fit the character's style. Outfits, as their name implies, consist of attires that can be equipped to the playable characters during gameplay, thereby changing the appearance of the character's game model.
